OUR PIANIST: Tyler Rubin

Tyler J. Rubin is a NYC/NJ-based composer, copyist and woodwind doubler. As a composer and performer, he is well-versed in the traditions of classical, jazz, pop and theatre. He obtained his MFA in musical theatre writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he premiered several pieces including his musical, How To Create A Young Girl (book and lyrics by Laura Barati), through NYU’s Tisch New Musical Theatre Workshop/New Studio on Broadway collaboration, and a short opera, I Celebrate (libretto by Marella Martin Koch), in conjunction with American Opera Projects. TJ obtained his B.M. in music theory/composition from Montclair State University with a concentration in clarinet where he studied under Scott Davenport Richards, Marla Meissner, Robert Livingston Aldridge (composition) and David Singer, Romie de-Guise Langlois (clarinet). Additionally, he has worked as a music copyist for composers such as David Shire, Anthony Davis and Adam Gwon. His copy work and orchestrations have premiered at The Town Hall in NYC and The Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, CA. He is a current instructor and chamber winds coach at Montclair State University's Preparatory Center for the Arts.  Welcome aboard TJ Rubin!


       Josie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, Cum Laude, Boston Conservatory of Music at Berklee.  She has 20 years of professional dance experience: 2 years with Spencer/Colton Dance company, 5 years with Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Dance Company, 13 years with Pilobolus Dance Theater. At Pilobolus she was an integral member of the touring company and creative services. 

 She has collaborated on 4 evening length dance  theater works that have garnered critical acclaim "Still Here," "We Set Out Early...," "A Selection," and "Shadowland."  

 Her TV appearances include : the 79th Annual Academy Awards, the Oprah Winfrey show and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, ABC News, the 20/20 Special "Beauty and Privilege" and the Portugal Golden Globes. 

 Her theater venues have included : the Kennedy Center, Washington DC, Lincoln Center, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, City Center, The Joyce Theater, NJPAC, NYC Summer Stage, Mc Carter Theater, Princeton and the Guthrie Theater (Minn). Welcome aboard Josie!


 Nicole D'Angelo is a pianist, clarinetist, and multi-instrumentalist known for her versatility as a musician. She graduated from Montclair State University in 2017 with degrees in music education and performance. Ms. D'Angelo has played clarinet and/or piano with orchestras including the New York Youth Symphony and Montclair Orchestra, and is well-known in the local theater community as a keyboardist, multi-woodwind specialist, and synth programmer. She was recently spotted playing piano for Hillside Elementary School's production of Seussical and has enjoyed playing for numerous other school productions this season. When she isn't performing Nicole enjoys teaching piano and other instruments to children of all ages and abilities. She specializes in teaching adaptive piano to students with disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.
